What to expect
The service Saturday night will utilize each of the five divine services as printed in the Lutheran Service Book (LSB hymnal).
The service Sunday morning uses Divine Service Setting Five in the LSB as the guiding liturgy while utilizing the expanse musical talents God has gifted St. Mark. Some may call this service “Traditional”. Some may call it “Contemporary”. Others may view it as “Blended”. What you can expect is the wide array of Lutheran music founded on the Word of God with all the elements of a service that follows our Lutheran identity.
Special services may use other service settings, such as Creative Worship, Matins, Evening Prayer, etc.
Saturday night worship will be led by organ and piano. Additional instruments, such as flute, may accompany a vocal choir.
Sunday morning worship will utilize the full array of musical talent God has gifted St. Mark. These instruments include: organ, piano, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, vocal choir, handbells, cajon, percussive instruments, etc. Each song may use any variety of instrumentation.
We follow a “come as you are” mindset. Therefore, people dress a variety of ways. Some people wear suits with ties or dresses, whereas you’ll find others in jeans.
Children are welcome and encouraged in worship. A nursery is available with the service streaming live on the TV. There are also age appropriate children’s bags for during worship. These contain books, toys, crayons, and paper for children who like to be a little more active.
During the school year, there is a children’s message. The children will be invited to come forward for a special message geared toward them.
We partake in communion every week. We believe the bread and the wine are Christ’s true body and blood, and in partaking of communion you receive the forgiveness of sins. Those who believe this and are baptized are welcome to partake. The pastors encourage you to introduce yourself before worship to at least inform him that you’d like to take communion.
Gluten-free wafers are available upon request.
Grape juice (dark colored) is available in the individual cups.
There are multiple ways to get connected. You can find all that information on another page of our website. Just click here.
All spots in the half-circle drive nearest the building are handicapped spaces. The rest of the parking lot is available. Our main drive is off Mount Zion Ave, which is open all year. A secondary entrance is off Ontario Dr, which is closed during inclement weather.
As our guest, we want you to feel no obligation to put anything in the offering plate. It is passed for those who are regular attenders of St. Mark. Our service is our gift to you. If you would like to know more, either pastor would enjoy taking you out for coffee (or other beverage).
